Megatrends—mega-informative: the automatica Forum

From trend analyses all the way to best practice examples: The automatica Forum in Hall A5 offers you first-hand expert knowledge and transfer of valuable know-how on the three megatrends of automation—‘Digitization and AI’, ‘Sustainable Production’, and ‘Future of Work’.

‘Digitization and AI’, ‘Sustainable Production’, and ‘Future of Work’ are shaping our industry—including the automatica Forum 2023. They form the common thread running through a variety of keynotes, practice-oriented presentations, and other knowledge formats—and are of course reflected in the daily panel discussions and exhibitor presentations for which we provide separate slots. The automatica Forum 2023 has an even more prominent location in Hall A5, putting it in the immediate vicinity of the automatica TestZone—thus creating a perfect match of theory and practice.

In 2023, the forum will once again be organized in large part by the Konradin Mediengruppe under the auspices of Automationspraxis magazine and will cover all relevant application areas of robotics and automation. It is complemented by a versatile range of formats—such as the munich_i CEO Roundtable or the IFR Executive Roundtable.

Trend topic No. 1: Digitization and AI

automatica is an opportunity to experience just how great the potential for increasing productivity in manufacturing really is. Digitization, IIoT, and artificial intelligence are the key technologies that also make major contributions to sustainability and climate neutrality efforts. Therefore, mechanical engineering is another field going down the path towards digital transformation. automatica Forum provides first-hand field reports in this context.

Trend topic No. 2: Future of Work

What does the future of work look like? Will the robots take over? Are there still going to be people in factories? There certainly will be—smart factories around the globe are proof of it. The cooperation between humans and machines already is a well-established model for success. It’s a trend on the rise. Because robots are increasingly easy to operate, making them more and more attractive for SMEs and small craft undertakings as well as in entirely new fields of application. And that’s because professional service robots also work in areas beyond production.

Trend topic No. 3: Sustainable production

They produce photovoltaic modules, fuel cells, and lithium-ion batteries: Robots facilitate the breakthrough of green technologies. Energy-efficient automation solutions contribute to sustainable production even in ‘ordinary’ industrial applications. And it is robot-assisted systems that put the circle in the circular economy of electronic waste and lithium-ion battery recycling. In addition, automatica Forum presents concrete examples of how renewable energies and smart networking can be used to make carbon-neutral factories a reality.

For sustainable production, innovative energy technology and smart automation must go hand in hand. With a focus on the megatrends of AI and sustainable production, automatica is focusing on the right priorities for this and offers valuable information on this topic at the automatica Forum.
